Preventative Maintenance
Did you know that your HVAC system has more hours of run time than any other appliance in your home? Therefore, proper maintenance will determine the efficiency and longevity of your unit.
In order to keep your heating and air conditioning unit operating efficiently, maintenance is recommended twice a year; the cooling season and the heating season.
The following should be performed at each service:
Cooling Season:
- Indoor coil cleaned, drain pan and drain tablets if needed
- Outdoor coil cleaned
- Check all electrical connections
- Check air filters and replace if necessary
- Lubricate indoor/outdoor fan motors if needed
- Run the system for at least 20 minutes for proper charge (Freon) evaluation
- Duct system needs to be inspected for insulation value and air leaks
Heating Season:
- Check defrost
- Check heat strips (electric heat function)
- Indoor coil cleaned
- Outdoor coil cleaned
- Check all electrical connections
- Check air filters and replace if necessary
- Lubricate indoor/outdoor fan motors if needed
- Run the system for at least 20 minutes for proper charge (Freon) evaluation
